Free Packaging Tools for Buyers

Three small tools for the questions that usually arrive before an enquiry: what to ask about recycled content, how a capacity converts into fill weight, and what a shipment really costs once freight, duty and delivery are added.

  • Free to use. No login or email required.
  • Runs entirely in your browser.
  • Nothing you type is sent to us or stored on this site.
  • Standard anonymous page analytics only — no tool entries are included.

PCR Content and Recyclability Self-Check

This self-check does not grade your pack — it turns your answers into supplier questions and a list of gaps to close. Use it to brief a material supplier or recycler, not to certify anything.

Your pack

Recorded in your summary only. This tool does not decide which rules apply.

No target is suggested here. Enter the figure your brand or customer has set.

Does the pack touch the product directly?

Design questions

1. Are the body and the closure or pump in the same material family?
2. Is there a full-wrap label or sleeve?
3. Are there metallised, hot-stamped or carbon-black elements?
4. Is there a barrier layer, coating or additive?
5. Can the pump, spring and closure be separated from the body?

Documents you already hold

Before you print

  • “recyclable” — including any “100%” variant — only if recyclability is supported in writing for this specific pack, market and date.
  • “made with X% recycled content” — only with a certificate or declaration stating that percentage for the material actually used.
  • “eco-friendly” or “sustainable” — not measurable on their own; print only with a defined, verifiable basis.
  • A certification or recyclability logo — only if the certificate is current and covers this pack.
  • “PCR” on its own, without a percentage — ambiguous; state the percentage or leave the term off.

This self-check is a briefing aid, not a compliance assessment. It does not decide whether a pack is recyclable or meets any regulation. Requirements differ by market, packaging format and date, and change. Confirm current requirements with official sources, your recycler and your supplier. We do not issue recycled-content or food-contact certificates; those come from the material supplier or the recycler.

Your question list and gaps

Answer the questions and press “Build my question list”. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Capacity and Weight Converter

Convert between volume, mass and length units, then estimate fill weight and packed weight from figures you enter. The maths is straightforward; the input is the part that decides the answer.

Fixed conversions used

1 UK fl oz28.4130625 ml

Fill weight and packed weight

Example value — replace with your figure. Nominal capacity, not brim-full.

Example value — replace with the measured density of your formula. Water is not a default for cosmetic fills.

Pack components

Used to work back to the volume this fill weight needs at the density above.

Enter your figures and press “Estimate”.

These are estimates based on the figures you enter. Nominal capacity is not brim-full capacity, and your fill's density is not necessarily 1.00 g/ml. Confirm fill weight, headspace and packed weight against a filled sample before tooling or booking freight. The size index at /formats/dimensions/ publishes figures as printed and does not convert between ml and g; this converter is separate and does not change those figures.

Landed Cost Estimator

Add up goods, freight, insurance, duty, clearance and delivery to see what a shipment costs per unit. Every rate is one you enter; nothing is built in.

Your figures

Label only — no exchange rates are applied. Enter every amount in the same currency.

Goods

Freight and charges

Use your forwarder's rate. Leave blank to exclude insurance.

Duty

No rate is suggested here. Use the rate your broker confirms for your HS classification.

Your broker's valuation basis decides which one applies.

Estimate

Enter your figures and press “Estimate landed cost”.

How the total is built

goods = unit price × quantity
insurance = goods × insurance rate
duty = duty base × duty rate
total = goods + freight + insurance + duty
      + origin + destination/clearance + inland
      + other charges + other goods-side costs
per unit = total ÷ quantity
first-order per unit = (total + tooling) ÷ quantity

If one shipment covers several SKUs, enter only the freight and charges apportioned to this order.

This is an indicative estimate, not a quotation. No duty rates, freight rates or exchange rates are built in; every figure is the one you enter. It is not customs, tax or legal advice. It is not a delivered-price quotation and does not decide the Incoterm; the written quotation and the Incoterm agreed for your order govern. Confirm the HS classification, duty rate and charges with your broker and our written quotation.
