Cosmetic Packaging Glossary

Plain-language definitions of the empty containers we make to order, the materials behind them and the finishes we apply — written for buyers. New to sourcing? Start with the Sourcing Guide.

Every container is made to order in our own factory — no stock catalogue. Pick the empty container, then the material, finish, decoration and closure.

Materials buyers ask about

PP (Polypropylene)

Also known as: polypropylene

A workhorse plastic for jars, tubes, caps and cases — rigid yet lightweight, good chemical resistance for creams and lotions.

See PP (Polypropylene) →

PET / PETG

Also known as: pet resin, petg resin

Clear, glass-like plastics used for bottles. PETG is tougher and easier to decorate; both are common for serums and toners.

See PET / PETG →

Glass

An inert option, heavier and more fragile than plastic — chosen for perfume, foundation and serums when a glass look and feel is wanted.

See Glass →

Metal (Aluminium)

Also known as: aluminium, aluminum, metal tube

Rigid metal (aluminium) cases and tubes for lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, compacts and foundation bottles. Heavier than plastic — confirm decoration and crimping needs with the supplier.

See Metal (Aluminium) →

PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled)

Also known as: recycled content resin

Resin made from recycled material. Ask the supplier for the exact PCR percentage and supporting documentation before marketing it.

See PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) →

Single-material / Mono-material

A package made from one material family (e.g. all-PP) to make recycling easier. Confirm wall design so it still meets your drop-test needs.

Also known as: sand-blasted, etched
