The effect that can be achieved by embossing (spot raising of the surface) or debossing (recessing) can be stunning, and can add significantly to the perceived quality and value of the packaging. This can be carried out on clear and colour coated metal, integrated with colour printed designs, or carried out prior to anodizing in the case of aluminium. The one-off cost of the embossing tooling is generally modest.
